Hoysala Academy is a registered educational society established with a deep sense of social responsibility and a strong belief in the transformative power of education. The Academy was founded by a group of experienced academicians and committed professionals who envisioned an institution that would serve society by providing accessible, affordable, and quality higher education, especially to students from rural and semi-urban backgrounds.

At the time of its inception, higher education opportunities in the region were limited, and many deserving students were unable to pursue professional education due to economic, social, and geographical constraints. Recognizing this gap, Hoysala Academy was formed with the objective of ensuring that talent and potential are not restricted by location or background, but are nurtured through the right academic and professional guidance.

The academic journey of Hoysala Academy began in 2004 with its association with Sikkim Manipal University, under the banner of Hoysala College of Management & IT Studies, Shimoga. During this phase, the institution offered professional programs such as B.Sc (IT), BBA, M.Sc (IT), MCA, and MBA, enabling students of Karnataka to access recognized higher education closer to home.

In 2006, Hoysala Academy achieved a significant milestone by obtaining affiliation with Kuvempu University to offer BBA (earlier BBM) and B.Com programs. These programs were introduced under the name Hoysala College of Management. The institution is currently recognized by the Government of Karnataka, reflecting its academic credibility and adherence to regulatory standards.

Understanding the growing importance of employability and skill-based education, Hoysala Academy expanded its scope beyond conventional degree programs. During the academic year 2012–13, the Academy received approval to conduct various Vocational Training Programs under the Skill Development Initiative Scheme of DGE&T, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. These initiatives were aimed at equipping youth with job-oriented skills, enhancing employability, and promoting economic self-reliance.

In 2013, Hoysala College of Management & IT Studies was recognized by the University of Mysore, Manasagangotri to offer a full-time MBA program. This recognition marked another important phase in the institution’s growth, demonstrating its academic maturity, infrastructure capability, and commitment to quality management education.

Over the years, Hoysala Academy has evolved into a center for holistic student development. The institution has established modern facilities such as English Language Labs, Skill Development Labs, and student-centric learning environments that focus on communication skills, confidence building, critical thinking, and professional readiness. These initiatives have been particularly impactful for first-generation learners.
